TAC Attendant Care
Acquired brain injury &
high complex needs specialist services provider
What is attendant care?
Attendant Care is a support service funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to assist individuals in regaining independence after a transport accident. This service provides essential personal care and daily living support, helping people recover and adapt to life after a transport injury.
Attendant Care may be short-term post-acute support to assist with recovery or long-term assistance for individuals with ongoing care needs. The service is designed to promote safety, well-being, and independence, whether at home or in the community.
Support may include:
- Personal care, such as showering, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Daily living tasks, including meal preparation, household chores, and grocery shopping.
- Community access, helping individuals attend medical appointments, social activities, and rehabilitation services.
- Overnight or high-intensity support, depending on individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please find answers to some of the most common questions. If you still need help, we’re just a message away.
A doctor, therapist, or case manager can recommend this support to TAC. Once it’s approved, a care provider will be arranged to help you with the tasks you need support with.
In most cases, TAC does not fund family members to provide paid care. Attendant Care is usually delivered by trained, registered support workers from approved providers to make sure you get safe, professional care that meets your needs.
If you’ve had a transport accident and need help with daily activities because of your injuries, you may be eligible. TAC will look at your needs and decide what support can be funded.
