What are NDIS Group Based Activities - Art Programs?


Group Based art programs are structured, facilitated activities that use creative arts to promote wellbeing, connection and personal expression. They are delivered in group settings and can be therapeutic, recreational, or skills-building.

We focus on enhancing social functioning, emotional wellbeing, independence, and quality of life, supporting participants to achieve meaningful recovery and community inclusion.

What are the Art Programs at arbias?

Our art programs are ABI-aware and psychosocially supportive. They integrate understanding of cognitive, communication and sensory processing changes following an ABI.

Group based activities provide a safe and inclusive environment that help reduce isolation, promote social connection and foster confidence. Activities are tailored for accessibility and meaningful participation, supporting recovery priorities while respecting individual ability levels.

How can we Help

Collaboration with therapeutic goals

Our facilitators collaborate with other supports to plan and implement activities that further support in clients’ recovery goals.

Support emotional regulation & identity exploration

We provide resources and a safe environment where we encourage clients to explore creative expression that support emotional regulation and identity exploration.

Exhibitions of participant work

We organise exhibitions to showcase client creations with client consent, expanding on opportunities that promote social connection and foster confidence.

Support neuroplasticity & strengthen neuro connections

We design activities which develop fine motor, planning and sequencing skills which supports neuroplasticity and strengthen neuro connections through the exploration of different mediums and techniques such as folding, weaving, painting, and moulding.

Facilitated art sessions

Clients are supported to have an awareness of what is happening, to become familiar with the environment, with each other and with the routines.

Social connection

Our Group Based Activities provide a facilitated environment with opportunities for community participation and peer learning.

Reinforcement of routine and structured engagement

Clients are supported to feel regulated through the safety of routines, structured creativities, and a familiar environment.

Adaptations for individual accessibility needs

We adapt to individual abilities, strengths and accessibility. We also incorporate individual musical preferences and various prompting techniques to engage individuals with different learning styles.

How to get support

Step 1

Make an enquiry

This is the first step to let us know about your interest in Group Based Art Programs. Referrals can be made by participants, families, support coordinators, allied health professionals, or external agencies. Enquiries can be made via phone, email, and from our contact us or make a referral page.

Step 2

Accessing the service

Services may be accessed by NDIS participants with Group Based Activities or Community Participation (e.g. Social & Community Participation) in their NDIS plan.

Step 3

We'll get in touch

Once we receive your enquiry, we'll review the details and reach out to discuss your needs, goals, and how we can assist you through Group Based Art Programs.

Step 4

Program enrolment

We will request our completed referral form which will be sent out to you after we get in touch with you.

Step 5

Program planning

We will assess the accessibility needs, risk considerations, participant goals and communicate the program schedule. We will also complete consent forms and ask you about your consent on sharing your artwork in exhibitions or on other media. .
